      Isaac's birth record in Dighton shows his name as Jack(same as his fathers). His marriage names him as Isaac junior.((This is not the Isaac Pool, s/o Isaac Pool and Sarah Leonard)). 1790 living in Dighton 2-2-6

    • Isaac Pool Jr., who died in 1824 in Bristol, Ontario County, New York, aged 72 (gravestone inscription, Bristol Center Cemetery), was born about 1752 in Dighton, Bristol County, Massachusetts. He is identified as “Isaac Pool Junr” in the Dighton marriage intentions of 25 September 1779, when he married Amey (Amy) Shaw (Dighton Vital Records). The “Jr.” designation indicates that an older Isaac Pool was living in Dighton at that time. That elder Isaac is documented as Isaac Pool of Dighton, yeoman, whose will dated 8 May 1782 (proved 25 August 1783, Bristol County Probate) names wife Hannah, son Isaac Pool (executor), son Jonathan, daughter Abigail, and others. This establishes that Isaac Pool Jr. (the 1779 groom and later New York settler) was the son of Isaac Pool of Dighton who died in 1782.

      That Isaac (d. 1782) married first Mary Peck (marriage intentions entered 16 June 1750, Dighton VR) and second Hannah Paul (married 1 May 1755, Dighton VR). Births to Isaac and Mary appear in the early 1750s, followed by children to Isaac and Hannah beginning in the later 1750s, consistent with Mary’s death prior to the second marriage. The 1782 will and associated land records further tie this Isaac to the long-held Dighton homestead, described in deeds of March 1782 (Bristol County Deeds, Vol. 60) as land “which was the homestead of my father Isaac Pool late of Dighton, dec.” This language confirms that the Isaac who died in 1782 was himself the son of an earlier Isaac Pool of Dighton.

      That earlier Isaac Pool (often placed as born ca. 1677) was a son of Isaac Pool (born ca. 1645 in Weymouth, Norfolk County, Massachusetts), who removed to Dighton about 1708/9 and appears among its early proprietors (Weymouth and Dighton town records; Bristol County deeds). This Isaac (b. ca. 1645) was the son of Capt. Edward Pool (1609–1664) of Weymouth, Massachusetts, who emigrated from Weymouth, Dorset, England, and is documented in Weymouth town and probate records, as well as Norfolk County records.

      In summary, the lineage is: Capt. Edward Pool (1609–1664), Weymouth, MA → Isaac Pool (b. ca. 1645, Weymouth; later of Dighton) → Isaac Pool (of Dighton, father of Isaac d. 1782) → Isaac Pool (d. 1782, will naming son Isaac) → Isaac Pool Jr. (b. ca. 1752, married 1779 Dighton, d. 1824 Bristol, Ontario Co., NY). The chain is supported by Dighton vital records (1750–1779), Bristol County deeds (notably Vol. 60, 1782 homestead references), the 1782 will of Isaac Pool, and the 1824 New York gravestone inscription.
