- Harold E. Bovee, 66, of Zerfass Road, Dansville, died Thursday, April 7, 1994, at the Canandaigua V.A. Hospital where he had been a patient since August of 1993.
He was born in Groveland July 4, 1927, the son of the late LaVerne and Elizabeth Loudin Bovee. Harold was married in Groveland April 16, 1949, to the former Thelma L. Applin, who survives.
Prior to his retirement in 1989, he had been a heavy equipment operator at the Akzo Salt Company in Retsof for 38 years. He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran and was a member of the Daniel Goho American Legion Post, a former member and Past Commander of the Clifford S. Orcutt American Legion Post of Scottsburg, and a member of the Casbolt VFW Post of Dansville.
Besides his wife, Thelma, he is survived by three sons, Terry (Penny) Bovee of Dansville, Gerald (Hope) Bovee of Johnson City, and Daniel (Irene) Bovee of Dansville; two brothers, Glenn and Robert Bovee of Dansville; five grandchildren, Michelle (Michael) Mayne, Amy, Kari, Kevin and Kristoffer Bovee; one aunt, Dorothy Rittenhouse of Mt. Morris; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Shirley, in 1956.
Friends called Saturday and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Chamberlin Funeral Home Inc., 73 Main Street, Dansville, where a funeral service was held Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Steven Harduk officiating. Burial took place in Greenmount Cemetery with full military honors.
