Lloyd E. Mitchell
Lloyd E. Mitchell, 85 of Roulette died unexpectedly Saturday (July 17, 2004) in the emergency room of Charles Cole Hospital in Coudersport. Born May 30, 1919, in Coudersport, he was the son of Carl W. and Etta Belle [Ettabell] Thompson Mitchell. In 1946 in Port Allegany, hemarried Beverly J. Hoak, who survives.Mr. Mitchell was a lifelong resident of Roulette. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army, where he received five bronze stars. He had been employed with the former Damascus Tanning Company in Coudersport and attended the Chestnut Street Baptist Church in Port Allegany. He was an avid beekeeper. In addition to his wife, Mr. Mitchell is survived by two granddaughters, Caroline Ferraiuolo of Coral Springs, FL and Melissa Gagnon of Miami Shores, FL; one brother, Carl W. Mitchell Jr. of Coudersport; two sisters, Luella Hamilton and Lorraine Russell, both of Coudersport; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Mona Gagnon, who died on March 31, 1993; and three sisters, Gustafa [Gustava] Knowlton, Leonore [Elnora] Mitchell and Luva Derkis. There will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service to be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday (July 21 2004) at the Chestnut Street Baptist Church in Port Allegany, with the Rev. H.D. Youngblood officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Lyman Cemetery in Roulette. Memorials may be made to the Roulette Ambulance Association, PO Box 172, Roulette, PA 16746, or to a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are under direction of the Fickinger Funeral Home of Coudersport.
