- Donald W. Lander, 66, of Second Ave., Wayland, formerly of Rochester, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Nov. 20, 1996 at his home in Wayland.
Donald was born March 19, 1930 in Wayland, a son of Walter W. and Flora L (Loveland) Lander. He was a graduate of the Wayland High School and Albany State College, where he received a B.S. degree in Chemistry and his Master's degree in Mathematics.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1954 to 1957. He was a foreman at Eastman Kodak Co., Rochester, before retiring in 1985 after 28 years of service.
He was an avid fisherman and conservationist. He was a member of the Loon Lake Cottage Assoc., the National Rifle Assoc., Trout Unlimited, Right to Bear Arms Assoc. and the Wayland Historical Society.
He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Everett Kiff of Little River, SC; a niece, Kimberley Lander of Bucksport, SC; a nephew, Mark (Angelika) Kiff of Greer, SC; two great-nephews, Dennis and Stephen Kiff of Greer, SC; and several cousins and many friends.
Friends called from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Walter E. Baird and Sons Funeral Home, 100 E. Naples St., Wayland, where funeral services were held Sunday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Alan Jones officiating. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery, Wayland.
