- F. W. Augustus Gottschall was born in Rhine Prussia Regierungs Bazirk, Tries-Kreis( or Fries-Kreis) St. Wendel, Sultzbach on June 2nd 1827 out of a family of 11 children, 8 boys and 3 girls. His father was a coal miner. They came to this country in the spring of 1833. Their sea voyage lasted 48 days on the water crossing the Atlantic Ocean. They landed in New York and went to Pottsville, Pa. where they stayed one year. They then went to Dansville, NY and stayed there 9 months. They then bought the farm in Perkinsville, which had stayed in the family until the Early 1980's (last owned by Gertrude Gottschall) and moved there in the spring of 1835 after waiting out raging cholera in the area. He was nearly 9 years old and he resided there the rest of his life and died on March 2, 1895 at the age of 67 years, 9 months and is buried in the family plot in St. Peters Cemetary at Perkinsville, NY. The farm as of July 2005 is owned by family member Linda Graham.
