In 2008, Luella Mae (Mitchell) Hamilton said Rose Byam had a daughter before she married Mahlon Alvin Mitchell, and the daughter had two children "Buster" and Thelma Gee. Both children are included in a circa 1923 Mitchell reunion group photo.
The 1920 US Census report turned up the name Mabel, which Luella recalled as the name of Rose's daughter. The census report also provided a birth year of about 1894. "Buster" was a nickname for Forest. Who was Mabel's husband.
Census reports suggest the first husband could have been Ralph Hotchkiss, because this household had the only combination of Mabel born in New York about 1894 and mother's name Rose. A Mabel Hotchkiss born about 1894 in New York shows up e 1910 census liveing with grandparents in Andover, N.Y., and working as a weaver in a silk mill.
