Moose, widow of Jacob Moose, died in the Park Avenue hospital at Rochester at 9.40 a. m„ on Friday, December 8, 1916, aged 61 years, 5 months and 11 days. On Saturday, December 2d, she went to Rochester to be operated on for gall stones. They attempted the operation on Tuesday and found she had cancer of the liver and in such an advanced stage that she could live but a short time. She had been confined to the house for the past ten weeks previous to her death. Lanah E. Gilman was the daughter of Harmon Gilman and Eliza Kuhn, and was born in the town of Sparta, June 27, 1855. She was married to Jacob Moose June 28, 1874, he having died March 5, 1902. at the age of 61 years. She was a kind and loving mother, a good neighbor, and a true friend. She had two children, Myrta and Mary Moose, also one adopted daughter, Miss Grace Sweeten, who has lived with her since she was four years old and for the last eight years she has cared for Miss Clara Compton and she gave to her the love and tenderness that only a mother knows how to give. Her life seemingly spent in the care of others. She cared for her mother up to the time of her death, she having been an invalid for eight years, and also for her husband who was an invalid for some years before his death. Undertaker Walter Baird brought the body to her home on Friday evening and the funeral service was held at the Carney HolIow church on Monday at two p m., Rev. Waltz, pastor, officiating, and she was buried beside her husband in the Pleasant Valley cemetery The flowers were very beautiful consisting of a lovely pillow and bouquets by the family and friends and a large circle of golden chrysanthemums, one for each member of the society and a vacant space with one missing and that one she held in her hand, being the gift of the society. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Arch Francis and one son Murray Moose and one adopted daughter Miss Grace Sweeten, all of Springwater, and two brothers, John Gilman of Claytonvllle, and Simon Gilman of Sparta, beside many other friends and relatives to mourn her loss.
