- DANSVILLE - Beatrice E. Sterner, 82, of Vista Hill Rd. in Dansville passed away Sunday morning June 25, 2000 at the Conesus Lake Nursing Home in Livonia where she had been a resident since May 2.
Beatrice was born in Ossian Oct. 8, 1917, a daughter of the late Dwight and Linda Elder Knapp. On June 27, 1942, she was married to Clyde E. Sterner, who predeceased her on Nov. 7, 1999. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law Joseph P. Schramm.
Bea taught in area rural schools for six years before beginning her tenure at Wayland Central School in 1963. She retired in 1983. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Dansville, the Kate J. Jackson Court of the Amaranth, the former Dansville Grange, the Wayland Retired Teachers Association and had worked with 4H for ten years.
Bea is survived by her son David (Cheryl) Sterner of Wayland, two daughters, Judith (Colin) Monro of West Henrietta and Carolyn Schramm of Syracuse; two brothers, Duane Knapp of Atlanta and Russell Knapp of Ossian; a sister, Marjorie Baker of Macedon; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends called Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Hindle Funeral Home, 271 Main St., Dansville. Services were held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Dansville with the Rev. Randolph Bishop and the Rev. David Hotchkiss officiating. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville. A Court of Amaranth service will be held at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
