  Notes	Don was the only child born to Robert M and Marion Burditt Clough. He was born in Reading, Massachusetts, but grew up in Westchester County, N.Y living first in White Plains and then in Bronxville, N.Y. Don graduated from Bronxville High School in three years getting extra units at Farragut Naval Academy during summers. He entered the U.S. Navy during the final year of World War II. When he was discharged, he enrolled in Stanford University, majoring in Economics. He again attained his degree in three years by attending summer classes at Columbia University. Don graduated in 1949 and entered Stanford Business School in the fall. He left business school in the spring and married April 1, 1950 Mildred Welch. Don worked for the Schlage Lock Company, then joined the Group Insurance department of the Connecticut General Life Insurance Company. He was stationed in Buffalo, New York for 4 years, then transferred to Portland, Oregon. In 1961, the family moved to Woodside, CA. Don worked for several, different Insurance companies over the years. By 1970, he had left the insurance business and helped found and finance a number of different companies eventually also doing business in Reno, Nevada.
