    Notes
    • CLARENCE A. HAYNES
One week ago last Sunday the sad news came to Alfred that Clarence A. Haynes of Arkport, husband of Odessa Potter Haynes, had passed away that morning. Mr. Haynes was born in South Dansville twenty-six years ago and up to two years past, Dansville had been his home. Two years ago he settled in Arkport and engaged in the garage business. In this short time he had come to be one of Arkport's most highly respected citizens. He was clerk of the village and a leading member of the Big Brother's Bible Class in the Presbyterian Sunday school; also a member of the Arkport Hose Company, the Dansville Lodge F. and A. M. No. 478 and the Pastmaster's Lodge of Steuben County.
The 26th day of last June he and Miss Odessa Potter of Alfred were united in holy wedlock. They had already fitted up their home in Arkport and went immediately to housekeeping, but this unusually happy union was to last only five months and five days. Mr. Haynes' death was the result of pneumonia following the influenza. Besides his wife he is survived by one brother, Lloyd Haynes, and two sisters, Mrs. Fred Wiermiller and Mrs. Menzo Williams, all of South Dansville.
Funeral services, conducted by Pastor William L. Burdick. assisted by Rev. G. M. Wilkins were held at the house Tuesday of last week and burial took place in the cemetery near South Dansville.
