- Ex-Pastor in Mendon Dies in Leicester
Leicester - The Rev. George C. Conrad, pastor emeritus of Leicester Presbyterian Church died yesterday (Dec 14, 1968) at his home on South Parkway. The Rev Mr. Conrad served both the Leicester church and one in Tuscarora from 1947 until his retirement in 1961. A native of Amboy, Minn., he received his theological training at Colgate-Rochester Divinity School and at Oberlin College Oberlin, Ohio. While attending Colgate-Rochester he was student pastor for a York parish. He was a medic in World War I. After his ordination into the Baptist ministry, the Rev Mr. Conrad served parishes in Iowa and Ohio, returning to upstate New York in 1939 to become pastor of Mendon Presbyterian Church where he served until coming to Leicester. Active in community affairs he was past president of Mt. Morris Rotary Club and the Livingston County TB and Health Association. He was former Kiwanian and was associated with the Allied Temperence forces in Rochester in the early 1940's. He is survived by his widow, Gladys, two sons, Lowell of Geneseo and Russell of Windsor Conn.: and seven grandchildren. Friends may call at Rector Funeral Chapel, Geneseo, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and tomorrow, where services will be held at 2pm Tuesday. Burial will be in Mt Hope Cemetery, Rochester. Contributions may be made in his memory to Leicester Presbyterian Church.
