- Sources show that Stephen married Mary Briggs d/o Thomas and Mary(Allen) Briggs, however these same sources state that she was born 26 Jun 1720. However, the original records of the children of Thomas and Mary show that daughter Mary was the youngest and born in 1727 - making her 16 years old when she would marry Stephen Howland...Still possible, but then again there is a Mary Briggs that married Seth Briggs,Jr in 1750.
