- Kenneth M. Gilbert, 75, of Stones Falls Rd. died Tuesday, April 11, 1995 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville.
He was born in Groveland June 26, 1919, the son of the late Harlan and Helen Morris Gilbert. Ken was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during W.W. II, serving with the 8th Signal Company of the 8th Division, and was presented with the Purple Heart and awarded the Bronze Star.
Prior to his retirement in 1974, he had been an officer with the Dansville Police Department. He also owned Ken's Sporting Goods and tended bar at Brae Burn Recreation Center.
Ken was a 50-year member of the Daniel Goho American Legion Post #87, the Casbolt V.F.W., and the Hook & Ladder Fire Co. He was a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Dansville Fish and Game Club and the Monday Night Mens' Bowling League.
Survivors include his wife, Natalie; one daughter, Anna Marie Westlake of Baldswinsville; two sons, Kenneth (Kim) of Hunington and Edward (Marie) of LaGrange, IL; four grand-daughters, Jean Marie and Pamela Anne Westlake, and Juliann Marie and Sarah Lynn Gilbert; many cousins; and very dear friend June Gray.
Friends may call Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Chamberlin Funeral Home Inc., 73 Main St., Dansville, where a funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. G. Calvin Sheasley officiating. Burial with military services will take place in Union Cemetery, Scottsburg.
