- Laura A. Cross was born March 7th, 1856, in Louden County, Virginia, and passed away in Geneva, November 21, 1925.
She was united in marriage with George E. Leonard January 28, 1883. To this union were born seven children, all surviving but one, Ernest G., who met death in an accident December 16th, 1916.
She had been failing for more than a year, and was confined to her bed for a number of weeks. She was very patient through it all, and passed to her reward trusting in her Lord and Savior.
She leaves to mourn, her husband; her sons, Harry A. of sugar City, Col., Charles E. and Emory of Crook, Col., Guy Olen of Geneva; her daughters, Mrs. Lula G. Robinson and Miss Kathleen E. of Geneva, besides many friends and neighbors.
The services were conducted at the United Brethren Church by the pastor, Rev. C. W. Olewine, assisted by Rev. David Tudor.
Music was rendered by a mixed quartet and a solo by Mrs. Elder.
Interment was in the Geneva Cemetery. All the children were present, except for Harry A. of Sugar City, Col., who was here during his mother’s illness, but was called home.
Those present from out of town were Mrs. Jane Carnegia, a sister; Mrs. Eva Cross, sister-in-law; Miss Katy Householter, a niece; Dr. and Mrs. Doty, the latter a niece, Mrs. Sicendoller of Concodia, Kas., Joe Meehan, John Meehan, Will Meehan, Miss Eliza Meehan and Miss Agnes Klein of Friend, and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Drake of Deshler.
