- Jeffersonville, NY May 31 1934 page 5: "White Sulphur Springs May 28 - Peter Benton, aged 30 died of tuberculosis at the home of his sister, Mrs Edwin Dewitt of this place on May 24, after a month's illness. The funeral and burial took place here today, Revs Weaver and Edwards officiating. Mr Benton was born at Dahlia, a son of Wakeman F Benton and Mary Wood.
HE was married to Violte LaForge of Orange County, NY but they separated. He had worked in Middletown at various times, and lately lived at home. Leaves besides his wife and two sons and his parents are the following sisters and brothers - Margaret of Middletown, Vivian of Virginia, James at home, Blake of Liberty and Mrs Dewitt."
