- Harriett E Day, 101, of 4557 County Road 16E, passed away peacefully, Saturday (May 19, 2018) at Wellsville Manor Hills.
Born in Utica, NY, August 21, 1916, the daughter of Myron and Ethel (Sisson) Morton, she was a lifelong area resident, graduating from Wilsonian School in Angelica. Harriett was a member of the Angelica United Methodist Church, and several other organizations including; the former Angelica OES, for over 75 years and also served as chaplain, she was also a social member of the Angelica Legion Post #414, and the former West Almond Grange. She was a former assessor for the Town of West Almond, past president of the Angelica Alumni, taught 4H, and was a den mother of the Boy Scouts. Harriett was an active person, who loved to golf, bowl, sew and read. Harriett will be forever missed, for her spunk, sense of humor, love of family and her pure determination.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Charles Day whom she married in 1935, and was predeceased by him in 1985, she was also predeceased by her son in law Edwin Hoffman in 1997, her daughter in law Marilyn Day in 2011, and her 4 sisters Jean Yager, Muriel Rossman, Marcia Short, and Georgia Grastorf.
She is survived by her daughter Shirley Hoffman of Angelica, her sons Thomas (JoAnne) Day of Florida, Richard Day of West Almond, her sister Patricia Calkins of Hornell, 9 grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, 9 Great Great Grandchildren (with 1 on the way), and several nieces, nephews and friends.
