- Served in Capt. James Clark's Co., Lebanon, Conn., Col. Comfort Saga Regt., Wadsworth Brigade. The Battalion was raised Jun 1776 to reinforce Washington at New York. They served in NY City and on Long Island. Got caught in the retreat from the city 15 Sep and suffered some losses. They were engaged at the Battle of White Plains 28Oct1776. The Battalions time expired 25Dec1776. Also in the same Company with Gershom was Ensign Jonah Palmer (possibly kin of his wife, Eunice) 1796. That same year, however, Gershom Gillett made a possession on the farm now owned by L. D. Landon. He came from the state of New York. His Son Wilkes settled the farm that James Metler lives on. Mr. Sellard married a granddaughter of the elder Mr. Gillett. The Gillett's, except one daughter, who married Augustus Loomis, have all moved away from Canton (Bradford Co., PA).

- 1816Feb27 Land - Garshom Gillet Senr and Eunice Gillet of the town of Livonia, Ontario County, New York for $400 sold to John Milleman of Geneseo, NY. 20 acres of land in the town of Geneseo in the northwest corner of lot one. Witnessed in the presence of Lawrence S. Pearce and Eleazer Gillet on 22Mar1819. Recorded 06Nov1820 - Book 36, page 457.
- 1817Mar27 Land - Gershom Gillet Senr of the town of Livonia, Ontario County, New York for $650 sold to Leonard G. Harrison of Livonia, NY. About 2 acres of land in the town of Livonia in the northwest corner of lot sold by Sara Bosley as her share of her fathers estate in the town of South Towne now named Livonia. Said land was deeded by Sara Bosley to Jacob Bosley and from Jacob to Eleazer Gillet and from Eleazer to Garshom Gillet Sen.. Witnessed by Truman Stephens and John Everitt. Eunice Gillet wife of Garshom signed 22Mar1819 releasing all right of dower, the same day the deed was signed by Commissioner William Carnahan. Recorded 14Dec1819 - Book 34, page 409. This land is north of the present hamlet of Lakeville on west side of Conesus Creek, somewhere around south side end of Lima Rd and Rte 256.
