      Ceres Man Stricken While Operating His Car; Funeral Here Sunday Afternoon.
      Allen J. Clair of Ceres passed away suddenly Wednesday afternoon, while operating his car on the Ceres-Bolivar road.
      Mr. Clair was born in Allentown, N. Y., December 11, 1870, a son of the late Mrs. Mina Southern. His early youth was spent in the vicinity of Olean and in 1910, he left for Oklahoma and Texas, where he was engaged as a drilling contractor in the oil fields in those states. He continued in that work until 1925, when he returned to New York State where he engaged in the construction of valves for working barrels in the oil fields in the vicinity of Bolivar.
      Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Jane Walker Clair; two sons, Allen D. Clair, Olean; Clifford Clair, Enid, Okla.; one step-son, Preston Walker, Olean; three daughters, Mrs. Nettie Gallagher, Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Emily Shannon, Bolivar; Mrs. Sarah Allen, Olean; one step-daughter, Miss Janice Walker, Olean; also fifteen grandchildren. Mr. Clair was a member of the First Baptist Church, this city, and the Elks Club. A prayer service will be held at the home at Ceres, Sunday afternoon at one-fifteen o'clock. The funeral will be held at the First Baptist Church here at two o'clock. The Rev. R. N. Mason of Richburg and the Rev. A. Frank Houser, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery. The body was removed to Hallock's Funeral Parlors and was taken to the home this afternoon.
