At the age of 15 he went to work for the Silver Lake Railroad. He married Alta Streamer in April of 1902, who survives together with his father Walter A. Gray; a sister, Pearl Elaine Fontaine; a brother, John Gray of Rochester. Burial was in Maple Grove, Gainesville.
