Former Buffalo Hotel Keeper Passes Away in Lockport
Lockport, May 20 - George W. Haynes, aged 63, died last night after a three month illness. The deceased was born in Livingston County, January 7, 1858. Before coming to Lockport he conducted the Brainard Hotel, William Street, Buffalo, twelve years.
He was superintendent of the State Odd Fellows Home for nearly eight years, severed as deputy sheriff under former Sheriff Shaw and Smith, and worked the Crapseye Farm on the Stone Road.
Mr. Haynes was past Noble Grand of Cataract Lodge of Odd Fellows of this city, and also belonged to the following lodges: Canton Niagara, Queen City Encampment, Myrtle Rebecca and Lockport Grange. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was for many years a deacon in the church.
He leaves a wife, Anna Carson Haynes, two sisters and three brothers. Funeral Sunday with burial in Glenwood Cemetery.
