- Served in Revoluntionary War as Frontiersman, taking the Oath of Allegiance in 1778 before Joshua Elder, Justice of Lancaster Company and paid David Haynes to take his place in the War.
William Sawyer - In the Name of God Amen: I William Soyer of London Derry township, Lancaster County and State of Pennsylva. yeoman, being sick and weake in body but of Perfect Mind and Memory thanks be given unto God, Calling unto Mind the Mortality of my Body to make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner following. I recommend my Soul into the Hand of Almighty God that gave it, and my Body I recommend to the Earth, to be buried in decent Christian burrial at the Discretion of my children and as touching Such Worldly Estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life. I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form, First I give and bequeath to my Sons William and Benjamin the place or Plantation which I have bought latly which tract of land or plantation lays and being in the Township of London Derry containing Three hundred and fifty give acres, belonging to the Andrew Rowin formerly, the price for said plantation was the consideration Sum of money Six hunddred and fifty Pounds and of said Sum I paid Two hundred and fifty pounddds and I intend to Pay one hundred pounds more and the remainder of the ("gails"?) my sons mentioned before Shall pay themselfs hereafter following and I have Fifty Acres of Land adjoining Peter Over, such said fifty Acres of Land my Son John shall have that only he shall pay his sister Hanna fifty Pounds out of that but in case he should ("Scrubel"?) that Hanna my Daughter Shall have the Land and I have thirty acres of Land adjoining my Son William, my Grand Son shall have that only he Shall pay to his Sister Sophia Thirty Pounds and this money he shall pay in two or three years only he shall Pay the Interest of said Thirty Pounds and my Dear Auld woman Sophia shall have all the household goods and moofables (movables) and a coppel (couple) of cows shall kep for her during her life, and the two Ould Horses my son Benjamin shall have them if he wants them and considering the Lands I have made over to my Sons and Be it remembered that on the first Day of November Anno domini 1784 the last Willl and Testament of William Sawyer late of London Derry Township deceased was proved in due form of Law but having appointed no Executor or Executors therein or thereby (and the widow having renounced) Letters of Administrators with the copy of the will Annexed were granted to William Sawyer and Benjamin Sawyer two of the Sons of the said Testator they having first given Bond with Security will and truly to Administer the Estate of the said deceased agreeable to the Purposes and true meaning of the said Will and Especially to exhibit a true and perfect Inventory thereof into the Registers Office at Lancaster witin one month from the date and to Render a Just and True account of their Administration on said Estate within one year or when thereunto Lawfully Required Given under the Seal of said office.
