- Death of Mrs. William Strafford.
Mrs. Wm. Strafford died at her home in this city, about 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, May 14th of pneumonia, after an illness of a week's duration.
Miss Anna Sims was born in Bradford County, Pa., and removed with her parents at the age of four years, near Rockford, Ill., where she spent her girlhood and received her education. When a young lady she removed to Maquoketa, la., with her parents, and in 1856, was married to William Strafford at her parent's home in that place. Mr. and Mrs. Strafford came to Minnesota in October 1850 and settled in Chatfield, where Mr. Strafford started a brick yard. Mrs. Strafford was a pioneer in three different states: Pennsylvania, Iowa and Minnesota.
In early life Mrs. Strafford united with the Episcopal church of this city but for the past twenty years has been a constant and faithful attendant at the Presbyterian church where she has conscientiously performed her Christian duty in all church work. She had a host of friends who sympathize with the husband and children in their bereavement.
The funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock, at the residence, Dr. Allan Bell officiating. She will be laid at rest in the Chatfield Cemetery.
Besides her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Mary Hurning of Chatfield, and a son, W. A. Strafford of Seattle, and three grandchildren, Roe Hurning, Lillian and Alta Strafford, are left to mourn her loss.
