Preston, one of the oldest and most highly respected residents of this town, passed away after a brief illness at the home of her son, John N. Preston, in Greenwood street Monday night at 11:30. The cause of her death was heart failure and her last illness was of 24 hours duration.
About two years ago she was stricken with paralysis, one side being paralyzed. Herself and husband then came to live with their only son, John N. Preston, in this village.
Mrs. Preston was born in Howard, Feb. 4, 1835, and was the daughter of John Stewart, being the last of his children. The family was one of the most prominent of the town and left many descendants. She was married to W. T. Preston on Christmas Eve 1852, and they went to live in Adrian where they resided continuously until two years ago when they came here.
The funeral will be held from the family home in Greenwood street on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. J. C. Glover officiating." The Times, Canisteo, N. Y., February 21, 1912
