  Notes	William E. Stevenson Dies at 89; Prominent Jamestown Mason JAMESTOWN, Sept. 2.—Funeral arrangements are being made today for William E. Stevenson, 89, prominent Jamestown insurance man and Mason, who was found dead in his bed in his apartment at 115 Liberty St., Tuesday morning. Death was attributed to natural causes. Holder of the prelate emeritus badge, awarded by the York Rite Masons, Mr. Stevenson served for 31 consecutive years in Masonic offices. A 32d-degree Mason, he had completed all the work in all the branches of Free Masonry. He was a past commander of Jamestown Commandery, Knights Templar. Born July 24, 1864, in Pittsburgh, he lived in Jamestown for 51 years. After several years as a railroad telegrapher, he worked for 26 years for the Johnson Ice & Coal Co. before purchasing the Stevens Insurance Co. in 1926, operating it alone until 1942, when he became a partner of Ralph W. Johnson. He retired last March. He is survived by a son, W. E. Stevenson Jr., Hamden, Conn.; a grandson, William R. Stevenson of Hamden and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Herrick of Conneaut, O. His wife, Margaret Porter Stevenson, died in 1939. The body is at the Patridge Funeral Home, 212 East Fourth St. (The Buffalo News (Buffalo, New York) - Wed, Sep 2, 1953, Page 51)
