    Notes
    • Quite a commotion was caused at Bruce and Eleanors wedding reception, at the home of Eleanor's parents. Alice Moose Oaks stated in the Moose genealogy, "When seated at the table, a horn tooted outside as a signal to the bride and groom. They were up an dashing out the door as we sat in stunned silence. In short order the best man and maid of honor were out and after them - but to no avail. Dr. Buck drove the bridal pair to where their car had been secreted with their luggage in the Geneva area. Fortunately the bride's mother knew what was going to happen. Having played some devilish tricks on others at times, they were being very cautious about any tricks that had been hatched up for them." Eleanor graduated Dansville High School as well as Alfred State College and Geneseo Normal School. She was a teacher having taught the Webster District, "Knowledge is Power" Robert's District, Sparta Center, Dansville, Scottsburg, Kysorville, and retired from the Wayland Central School in 1972. Many one room schools closed one after the other as the districts were consolidated. She was the last of the one-room school teachers in Livingston County when the Kysorville School was closed in 1964. In 1984 she was enjoying her retirement with her grandchildren. One winter went to Florida "and wouldn't you know it - it snowed in Florida that winter!" Eleanor and Bruce had a cottage at Loon Lake in Steuben County. She was a member of the Dansville Presbyterian Church, the Kate J. Jackson Chapter of the Court of Amaranth and the Deborah Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star both in Dansville. She was also a former member of the Scottsburg Grange.
