- Laura B. Matlega, age 85, formerly of Prattsburgh, NY passed away on the evening of Monday, August 22, 2011 surrounded by her loving family at the South East Volusia Care Center in Edgewater, Florida.
Laura was born in Thurston, NY on January 2, 1926, the daughter of the late, Frank and Beva (Bush) Stewart. She attended Bath Haverling School and was employed for many years at the Westinghouse Plant in Bath. In addition to her parents, Laura was predeceased by her husbands, Earl R. Harndon on March 23, 1977 and Peter M. Matlega on June 10, 2011; and her brother, Lloyd Stewart on March 17, 2010.
Laura is survived by her loving children, Earl (Juanita) Harndon of Port Orange, FL and Linda (Charles) Rutty of Oak Hill, FL; grandchildren, Laurie (Tracey) Barlow and Scott (Sara) Stockton both of Edgewater, FL; great grandchildren, Robert, Zachery, and Carly; her sister, Katherine Huey of Hammondsport, NY; sister-in-law, Carol Stewart of Bath, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may call from 5 pm to 8 pm on Monday, August 29th, 2011 at the Bottoni-Wood Funeral Home, 4 Mechanic St., Prattsburgh, NY. Her funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 30th, 2011 at 11 am with the Rev. Larry Slater officiating. Interment will follow at Rural Cemetery in Prattsburgh, NY. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Laura’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
