- Son of Frank & Josephine Saba Dziekonski. On June 30, 1984, in Franklinville, NY, he married Julia A. Decker, who died August 12, 2002.
Mr. Dziekonski was a 1951 graduate of Ten Broeck Academy in Franklinville, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from SUNY Buffalo & a master's degree in Professional studies & community-service administration from Alfred University. He was a patrolman in the Franklinville Police Dept. from 1961 -67, becoming Chief in 1967. He held that position until his retirement in 2001. He was an adjunct faculty member at Jamestown Community College in Olean. He was a NY state certified police instructor at the Chautauqua County Police Training Academy, & a licenced real-estate salesman & appraiser. He was a life member of both the International Association of Police Chiefs & the NY State Chiefs of Police Association, a charter member of both Cattaraugus County Assoc. of Police Chiefs & Western NY Assoc. of Chiefs of Police, a member of Knights of Columbus & Pulaski Club of Olean, NY State Assoc. of Realtors & Ischua Valley Exchange

Surviving are 2 aunts, Rose Dziekonski of Avon, NY & Agnes Holmes of Franklinville, NY; a nephew, Jake Dziekonski of Avon, NY. He was predeceased by a brother, David Dziekonski; a sister, Mary Jo Zeczak; an aunt, Mary Rinko; & 5 uncles, Pete, Andy, Adam, Edward & Fran Dziekonski.
Funeral arrangements were made by Babbitt & Easton Funeral Home, 7 N. Main St.,in Franklinville, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 29, 2009, at 10 a.m. in St. Philomena's Roman Catholic Church in Frankinville with Father Joe Zalacca, officiating. 75y
