Maude S. Emo, 82, of County Road 46, died Saturday (Jan. 22, 2000) at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell after being stricken at her home. She was born in Dansville, Aug. 14, 1917, the daughter of the late John and Emma Lander Gottshall. Maude was married Nov. 21, 1940, in Wayland to Wilbur G. Emo, who survives. She and Wilbur owned and operated the Clover Knoll Farms in South Dansville since 1944. She was a longstanding member of the South. Dansville United Methodist Church and its WSCS Ladies Aid. Maude was very active in Grange, having been a 44-year member of the Pomona Grange 308, Stephens Mills Grange as well as being a member of the New York State and National Grange. She served as treasurer of the Stephens Mills Grange. Mrs. Emo enjoyed caring for her family, husband and cats, as well as crocheting, arts and crafts. Besides her husband of 59 years, Maude is survived by her son, David (Laura) Emo of Dansville; grandsons Todd Emo of Dansville and Toby Emo of the Atlantic Veterinary College of Price Edward Island; one sister, Mary (Edwin Jr.) Saxton of Cohocton; in-laws Walter (Arlene) Emo of Arkport, Donald (Betty) Emo of Arkport, Nettie Stevens of Bath and Betty (George) Fox of Hamburg. Also surviving are 19 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and -nephews. Friends may call Sunday 7 to 9p.m. and Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Chamberlin Funeral Home, Inc., 73 Main St., Dansville, where a funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11am with the Rev. Gary Wickard officiating. Burial will take place in Rogersville Forest Lawn South Dansville Cemetery. A Grange committal service will be held Monday evening at 8pm at the funeral home.
