- CHESHIRE - William Reid Stevenson, 61, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, at The Connecticut Hospice in Branford.
He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, April 16, 1945, the son of Miriam Breese and William E. Stevenson. Bill was a graduate of Hamden High School and Lafayette College, where he was a brother in Chi Phi Fraternity. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1972 and was stationed on the USS Midway after completing Naval Officers Training School in Newport, RI. For many years he enjoyed sailing with his family on Long Island Sound. He was a self-employed real estate appraiser until his retirement. An avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots, and UConn Basketball, he had been a team manager and director for Cheshire Youth Baseball.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Susan Rowell Stevenson; a daughter, Leah Jane Stevenson of New York, N.Y.; and a son, David William Stevenson of Brighton, Mass.
Arrangements are being made by Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9. A memorial service and interment at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, Mass., will take place at the family’s convenience. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Connecticut Hospice Inc., 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
