  Notes	John Lockwood, born about 1660, died without issue sometime after August 1689 and before 1692. On September 9, 1686, John Lockwood was fined for “being out unseasonably and disorderly” (Stamford Records, S1:135). Additional Stamford Town Meeting records note that on August 22, 1689, “the grass of the town meadow on Noroton Island is sold to John Lockwood for this year” (S2:319). John and his father, Edmund Lockwood, both appear on the 1687 Stamford tax list, with Edmund assessed at 63-0-0 and John at 22-5-0. In March 1688, John Lockwood was granted Lot #36 at Long Neck in the town of Stamford (Deed A:230). This same lot—described later as “that which was my son John’s”—was sold by his father, Edmund Lockwood, on January 18, 1691/2 (Stamford Deed A:203). Because the 1687 tax list served as the basis for allocating future grants of “sequestered” (common) land in Stamford, John Lockwood’s rights were inherited by his siblings and their heirs. He was not named in his parents’ probate records, indicating that he died young.
