Lieutenant under Capt Jonathan PlattNotes - David Dann was on the Westchester Co., N.Y. tax list of 1779, apparently owning property at both Pound Ridge, where he was assessed for real estate and personal property and at Salem, N.Y., R. E. tax only, (T—5:76 ff). In the 1790 census of Bedford, David Dann with 1/l/l lived next to his son, Hezekiah Dann with l/l/2. On 25 January 1800David Dan and wife Huldah (probably second wife) sold Bedford, N.Y. land to Benjamin and William Isaacs, (X—55:208). An affidavit of 15 November 1819 by David Dan of Amsterdam, Montgomery County, N.Y. states that he, while serving during the Revolutionary War as 1st lieutenant under Capt. Jonathan Platt, Col. James Holmes of the 4th N.Y. Regiment recruited and enlisted Nathan Lockwood into the service in 1775 or 1776, in Westchester Co., N.Y. (Pension #W2052/4:).The 1820 census of Amsterdam, N.Y. lists David Dan, a male and female over 45.
