Williams died at Bayonne, N. J. on Friday after aa illness of only a few days duration of Bright's disease, aged 75 years. About a year ago Mr. Williams want to Bayonne to take a position with the Standard Oil Company in a refinery. Deceased Was a native of Norton Rill, Greene County, N. Y. where he was born on May 20th, 1829. He came to this city from Albany in 1853. On May 24th, 1854, he married Miss Rebecca Reed of this city who survives him also two daughters, Mrs. W.D. Hatch of East Aurora and Mrs. Fred Wisner of this city and two sons, Clinton B. Williams of St Louis Mo., and Floyd J. Williams of Philadelphia, (one son Clifford preceded him to the spirit world). He also leaves three grand-daughters and one grand-son to mourn his loss. For 30 years he was one of the proprietors of the Myrick foundry. Deceased was as exempt fireman and one of the oldest in the city to have service in the fire department. He was an active member of the Baptist church for many years was deacon of that church. Mr. Williams a member of the Order of United Workmen the Royal Templars and the Masonic Blue Lodge. During his life, Mr. Williams was well and favorably known throughout this community. The remains will be brought to this city today and taken to the late home on North Barry Street. The funeral will be held from the house at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Rev. T.G. Cass officiating. Burial at the Protestant cemetery at Allegany. -- Olean Times.
Mr. Williams has friends in the town of Sparta and his death will be the saddest news. He married the daughter of John and Rebecca Reed, nee Piatt, of Sparta and was a brother-in-law of the late Mrs. Nathan Moose, Sr., of said town. Mr. and Mrs. Williams intended to celebrate their golden wedding May 24th, 1904, after which date he was to retire from business. The wife and family have the sympathy of many friends in this and adjoining towns.
