the ground-sills of the meeting house in 1655, had a grant of land in
1656, and was a rater (tax assessor) in 1662, 1667, and 1675. He was a
constable in 1659 and was called Sergeant Pond in some records, so may
have been an officer in the militia.
William and his wife Mary (Dyer) Pond had ten children, all born in
Dorchester, MA. There may have been others, not recorded, born between
1641 and 1646 and between 1646 and 1656.
