Name Daniel Turell Title Captain Birth Abt 1625 Instow, Devon Co., England Gender Male Death Jul 1693 Boston, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts, USA Notes - Daniel was a blacksmith by trade in Boston and is listed in the artillery company in 1656. It is said that he came from Instow on the north coast of Devonshire, midway from Barnstable to Bideford. With his young wife and family, they joined the church in Boston, 29 Aug 1647. Daniel was a freeman in 1669 and Captain in 1683 after filling the lower ranks for many years. He was one of the volunteers who set forth in October 1689 on the successful expedition under Colonial authorization to captain a private vessel in the Vineyard Sound. After the death of his first wife, Daniel married second at Roxbury,MA to Mary Barrell, widow of John, and daughter of Elder William Colburn, having an addition five children. Daniel died in July 1693 and was buried on the 24th.
