    • Leon S. Sanford, 86, died Friday (Sept. 13, 2002).
      Born June 20, 1916, he was a son of Sherman and Margaret (Pike)
      Sanford.
      He was the owner/operator of L & L Sanford Store in Dalton, a member
      and past Chief of the Nunda Fire Department, a member of the W.N.Y.
      Volunteer Fireman's Association, as well as a member of the Nunda Rod
      & Gun Club.
      He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lena; two daughters, Jean S.
      (James) Guy of Dansville and Sharon (Frank) Gilbert of Dansville; a
      son, Leon D. "Billy" Sanford of Nunda; a daughter-in-law, Rebecca
      Sanford of Dalton; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a
      great-great grandson; three brothers, Clarence Sanford of Nunda,
      Adrian (Elizabeth) Sanford of Nunda and Paul Sanford of Carlsbad
      Cavern, Calif.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
      Friends may call Tuesday at the Mann Funeral Home in Nunda from 2-4
      p.m. and 7-9 p.m., where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11
      a.m. Interment will be in Hunt Hollow Cemetery, Town of Portage.
      Memorial donations may be made in Leon's memory to the Nunda Fire
      Department.
