- Grayson Otho Delano Pastor Grayson Otho Delano of Unionville, Va. went Home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 24, 2014. He was born August 12, 1938, to the late Herbert Miles Delano and the late Carrie Ada Willen Delano. Born and raised in rural Westmoreland County, Va., he did not have a clear understanding of the Gospel or of the meaning of Christ's death on the cross. His basic belief was that if people's "good" outweighed their "bad", then they would go to Heaven, assuming there was such a place. He was basically religious, but in darkness concerning the way of salvation. Grayson came in contact with the Gospel message while working in a radio station in Warsaw, VA on Sunday mornings. He was a "captive" audience. His Aunt Julia also witnessed to him of the Gospel. After a time of struggle and searching, he trusted Christ and had the peace for which he had been searching. Christ was now his Savior and Heaven would be his home. It was also during that period of time that he met and married his wife, Nellie. They were married in Tappahannock, Va., in 1961. Shortly after they were married, he joined the US Army. After almost four years in the army, he entered Philadelphia College of Bible where he graduated in 1969. After pastoring in New Jersey, he came to Unionville, Va. in 1973 to be the pastor of a beginning church that became known as Faith Bible Baptist Church. He served as the pastor of Faith Bible Baptist Church for 40 years. During 27 of those years, he served as the principal and supervising teacher of Faith Christian Academy. While he was able, he never missed an opportunity to preach. His legacy is the many souls he pointed to a saving knowledge of Christ. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nellie T. Delano, and their seven children (Mary Stem, Ken Delano, Joy Baskin, Jeanne Pribble, David Delano, Karen Delano, Stephen Delano) and their families, including nine grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Rebecca Pritchard, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 27, 2014, from 6 untiil 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, Virginia. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at 10 a.m in the Found and Sons chapel with Pastor Tim Atkins officiating. Interment will follow at Culpeper National Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 2524. Pallbearers will be Ken Delano, David Delano, Stephen Delano, Lee Stem, Tom Pribble, and Dennis Flint. Galatians 2:20 "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." An on-line guest book and tribute wall are available at www.foundandsons.com. Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper served the family.
