  Notes	Stanley K. Smith, 88, of 7040 Smith Rd., passed away Sunday (Oct. 19, 2008) at his home. Born in Town of Howard, Aug. 21, 1920, the son of Ernest C. and Mary Oatley Smith, he was born and lived his entire life on the farm where he passed away on Sunday. He was a graduate of Hornell High School, Class of 1937. Stanley had been a self employed dairy farmer in the Town of Howard all his life, still being active in the operation of the Smith Stock Farms. He was a member of the Sovereign Grace Baptist Church on the Big Creek Road, and had been a trustee at the church when it was affiliated with the United Methodist Churches. He was a 7th degree member of the Grange, member and past master of Pamona Grange, a member of the Big Creek Grange, as well as a member and past president of the Steuben County Farm Bureau. He was a former GLF board member, a charter member of the Howard Fire Department, a former assessor for the Town of Howard, and had served on the Southern Tier Central Regional Planning and Development Board, He was predeceased by his parents; his son, Allyn O. Smith in 1973; his sister, Marion Kilbury; and his brother, Gordon Smith. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Davis Smith; three daughters, Carol Burns (William Phelps) of Arkport, Marcia (Albert) Burns of Bath, and Joanne (Roger) Williamson of Greenwood; two sons, Lowell (Bonnie) Smith and Dale (Lucy) Smith, both of the Town of Howard; two brothers-in-law, Charles (Laura) Davis and Herman (Earla) Davis, both of Hornell; a special friend, Don Saam of Hornell; 23 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren. The family will be present to receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday at the Robertson Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell. A Grange memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday followed by a funeral service at 3:15 p.m., Rev. Donald Rubel officiating. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, N.Y. 13220 or to the Jesse Slayton Family Fund c/o The Sovereign Grace Baptist Church, P.O. Box 55, Hornell, N.Y. 1483.
