  Notes	From the obituary of Mr.Abram Dippy, Another Old Citizen Gone, dated April 4, 1872, Dansville Advertiser, "Abram came to Dansville in 1807, and in 1811 purchased of Col. Rochester the lot upon which he has ever since lived and where he died and which was then covered and surrounded by forest trees. His house on the Main Street front of his lot, which burned in the great fire about fifteen years ago, was the second frame house built in Dansville. In 1813 Mr. Dippy enlisted in Capt. Rowley's company N.Y. State Militia and served three months. The following year he reenlisted under Capt. Kennedy, and served three months longer. Mr. Dippy was a hard working man and good citizen, and one of the hardy pioneers of whom but few are now left, who have seen this village rise into its present flourishing condition upon the ground which they remember as a wilderness.".
