Dean S. Hartman died at his residence in the town of Mt. Morris last Saturday. He was born December 19, 1819, and lived on what was known as the Hartman farm in West Sparta for sixty-eight years. He was twice married, his first wife being Miss A. B. Kenney, to whom his was married February 23, 1849; their two children, Celcilla A. and Jessie C. survive him. November 6, 1867 he married to Miss L. A. VanAuken. Mr. Hartman was a member of St.Peters Episcopal church of Dansville, and a mason for more than forty years, being made a Mason in Phoenix lodge, January 7, 1851. Funeral services were held at the Byersville Methodist Episcopal church and were conducted by the Masonic fraternity. Rev. Charles Rissecker of St. John's Church preached the sermon.
